4:35 p.m. at Detroit
Nuggets +3 at Pistons (190)
Here’s a game you can go shopping with. Detroit opened a 3½-point favorite at the Las Vegas Hilton and Station Casinos, while just 3 at Harrah’s properties. And, though the total is 190 at most Vegas books, you can get 187 at the Hilton. So choose your weapons.
As for tonight’s matchup, it’s doesn’t get easier for a suddenly struggling Denver team that’s 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS in the last 6. In that last loss, 100-94 at Indiana, Carmelo Anthony refused to come out of the game in the third quarter and has been suspended for tonight’s game by head coach George Karl. The Nuggets lost 93-90 in the previous meeting at Denver, but should receive an emotional boost from Chauncey Billups. The ex-Pistons guard is making his first visit to Detroit since the trade for Allen Iverson.
Meanwhile Detroit has gone through its own issues, dropping eight in a row before bouncing back with two straight wins including a huge 10-point upset victory at Boston. Detroit had fallen below .500 for the first time since the start of the decade causing Richard Hamilton to argue for a starting spot instead of coming off the bench. Hamilton got his wish via an injury to Iverson and the Pistons won both games.
Detroit has held its opponents below 100 points in 7 of the last 8. With one of Denver’s big guns out, we could see a similar total to the 183 in that first matchup. So we’re shopping tonight at the 190 stores. UNDER.
