5:05 p.m. at Detroit
Warriors +9 at Pistons (208)
It has been 28 games (Jan. 2 vs Sacramento) since the Pistons have been favored by as many as 9. Detroit won by 6, but figures to have the edge here against a Warriors team that is 6-25 away from the Bay. Golden State is 1-1 on the current road swing, having opened with a victory at Minnesota and then crushed by 22 at Chicago in the back end of consecutive games.
Detroit had fallen below .500 this late in the season for the first time since the start of the decade, but bounced back with three wins and four covers in a row. Prior to the surge, Detroit has scored 95 or less in seven straight. In the last two, each with Allen Iverson out and Richard Hamilton in the starting lineup, the Pistons netted 105 on Boston and 100 on Denver. Tonight Iverson is again sidelined.
While we’re not ready yet to say the Pistons are all the way back, the Warriors free-wheeling style should give the resurgent Hamilton a chance at another big night. Golden State has scored at least 100 in 12 of the last 13 and allowed 110 or more in 6 of 7. The 208 total is second lowest involving the Warriors in some 45 games. The other was 207 against Charlotte on Feb. 27 that wound up 112-109 for the Bobcats. OVER.
