MGM Mirage adds energy surcharge to rooms

Spiraling energy costs have forced MGM Mirage to add surcharges to its hotel room reservations, a move previously announced by Harrah’s Entertainment, the Riviera and Station Casinos.

The announcement noted that a $3 per room energy surcharge will be applied to rooms reserved after June 1 at the MGM Grand, The Mirage, New York-New York and Treasure Island. For the Downtown Las Vegas property, the Golden Nugget, the surcharge will be $2.25.

Hotel casinos in Las Vegas aren’t the only properties imposing energy surcharges. Such price increases have been announced by a myriad of hostelries, such as Marriott Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels and Wyndham Hotels.
