Nevada gaming regulators have given their approval for Aristocrat Leisure Ltd.'s purchase of Las Vegas-based slot maker Casino Data Systems.
The OK by the Nevada Gaming Control Board gives Australian-based Aristocrat a critical foothold in Nevada's huge slot machine market, where the company acquired a gaming license last year.
Aristocrat, a pioneer of the popular multi-line, multi-coin slot machine, won approval earlier this year to sell its first slot machine in the state.
The merger now goes for final approval to the Nevada Gaming Commission, which is expected to sign off on the deal.
Aristocrat is paying $180.5 million for Casino Data Systems, which also manufactures player-tracking software and systems.
