What had appeared to be a slam dunk earlier this year – the approval of Delaware authorities to begin legal sports betting – has now become a question mark.
A gaming committee of the Delaware House scrapped the governor’s plan to expand gambling and approved a bill that grants exclusive sports betting authority to the state’s three racinos.
Bad says Gov. Jack Markell who favored sports betting at up to 16 locations. "I personally believe," said Markell, "that it’s irresponsible to water down this proposal further."
However, Markell said he is willing to work on a compromise in order to resolve differences so that sports betting can be implemented this year.
