STEELERS FAVORED IN NFL OPENER

The Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook lists Super Bowl champ Pittsburgh as a 5-point home favorite over Tennessee to open Week 1 of the NFL season. The Steelers-Titans game is Thursday, Sept. 10 in an opening week that features a pair of Monday night games (see complete listing, p.14).

Four road teams, including Denver, are favored on the 16-game card. The biggest underdog is Detroit, getting 11 points at New Orleans.

FIESTA HENDERSON OPENS DERBY SEMINARS

Fiesta Henderson starts the first of several seminars previewing the May 2 running of the Kentucky Derby. Race Day Las Vegas radio personality Ralph Siraco will appear along with R-J writer Richard Eng and Jerry Jacovitz (Jerry’s J sheet) this Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. in the sports book. On Thursday, April 30, Siraco, Vic Vivio and GT’s own Richard Saber will speak at Palace Station from 6-8 p.m. Eng, Dave Tuley and Dan Shapiro talk May 1 at 6 p.m. in the Plaza.
