Once the Atlanta Hawks live mascot quit flying around the arena, the M Resort debuted its in-game wagering for the NBA playoffs.
"We try to do the games that don’t overlap," said Mike Colbert, race and sports manager at M. "The betting action was pretty even on the Miami-Atlanta game and early money came in on New Orleans in the Denver game. But as things unfolded more and more money came in on the Nuggets."
The M will have in-game wagering tonight in the Boston-Chicago and LA Lakers-Utah matchups. On Friday, M will again feature Atlanta-Miami and Denver-New Orleans. Saturday’s slate for in-game wagering has Boston-Chicago and Houston-Portland.
"We were very happy with the response for the NBA and soon hope to have baseball on line for in-game wagering," Colbert said. "In the near future we will also have the French Open and Wimbledon tennis along with the U.S. Open golf. "
The one sport that hasn’t had much interest is hockey. "We talked about hockey, but the bigger demand has been for basketball," Colbert said.
