D’backs -125 vs Giants (8½)
San Francisco has won 5 of 6, including last night’s 5-1 win behind Tim Lincecum. Arizona has alternated wins and losses over its last 6. Tonight’s matchup is a repeat of last week’s duel in San Francisco between Randy Johnson and Max Scherzer. Johnson took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of what was eventually a 2-0 victory. Scherzer allowed one run in five innings.
This will be an emotional return to Chase Field for Johnson, who was let go by the Diamondbacks in the offseason needing just three wins to reach 300 for his outstanding career. The win last week has the Big Unit at 297. Johnson will have had five days rest, just as he did in his victory over Arizona at AT&T Park. The Giants can reach the .500 mark with a win. Scherzer has a respectable 3.60 ERA so we could see a similar low-scoring game. GIANTS/UNDER.
