Find me another Da’Tara to bet on in Derby

Horse racing is a unique sport for me in that I’ve made money betting against what others say.

Last year in the Belmont, I put $5 on every horse in the field except Big Brown. So seeing 36-1 Da’Tara in the winner’s circle was a thrill to be sure. But, 36-1 shots don’t normally win.

I do however respect the opinions from those horse racing experts who religiously study past performances, track conditions, jockeys, breeding and whatever to correctly predict winners. We at GamingToday are lucky to have studs like Ed Golden and Richard Saber who follow the horses daily and share their knowledge – which hopefully will wind up profiting all of us at the window.

Oh yeah, baseball. Big cahones to GamingToday’s Sid Diamond for correctly picking Washington at +160 to beat the Mets. It was the Nats’ first road win of the season!

I aspire to be that sharp.

Wednesday’s best:

Angels at Orioles: Matt Palmer vs Koji Uehara. Please, give me a bat! A Baltimore businessman’s lunch special, meaning balls should fly out of Camden Yards. OVER.

Marlins at Mets: Josh Johnson and Johan Santana in what has all the earmarks of a 1-0 gem. We’re just hoping that the Florida bullpen stays out of it. UNDER.

Nats at Phillies: Brett Myers has a 1.23 ERA lifetime vs Washington. Ex-Marlin hurler Scott Olsen is 0-2 this season. Make that 0-3 after this one. PHILLIES -1½.
