OVER-WHELMING? One reason Texas is 9-2 to the over thus far is 2B Ian Kinsler, who is making a run at an April Triple Crown. Kinsler was fourth in batting (.384), tied for second in home runs (7) and tied for fourth in runs batted in (21).
PLATE UMPS TO FOLLOW: Do John Hirschbeck, CB Buckner and Gerry Davis ring a bell? Well they are umpires who, so far, affect totals when calling balls and strikes. Hirschbeck, notorious for low scores, is 3-0 UNDER. Buckner and Davis are each 4-0 OVER. There have been 58 runs involving Buckner, 69 with Davis and just 14 with Hirschbeck. Randy Marsh is also 4-0 OVER, but his run total is only 53.
BULL$ AND BEAR$: You want extremes? OK, Boston with 10 straight wins up $710 from last week. Florida with 6 straight losses down $760 from last issue. The Pittsburgh Pirates had a nice +180 win Sunday over San Diego’s Jake Peavy to take second (+$650) behind LA in the NL.
