THIS WEEK’S PROJECTIONS

MARLINS BACK TO EARTH: After an 11-1 start

don’t ask if you are a Florida fan. The plunge began at Pittsburgh then continued at home with consecutive losses to Philly after leading in the ninth inning in two games. It doesn’t get any better this week with visits to New York and Chicago. If you like Florida on the road, we suggest 5-inning line.

ANGELS IN SLUGFESTS: If you like to play totals, then the LA Angels are your team this week. The Halos and their patchwork pitching staff visit the two worst pitching staffs in the major leagues. First it’s a stop at hitter-friendly Camden Yards in Baltimore for a brief 2-game series Tuesday and Wednesday. The O’s are allowing 6.7 runs per game. The Angels then visit the new Yankee Stadium bandbox to face a NY staff (6.8 rpg) has that allowed 10 or more runs 5 times in 18 games. The OVER should hit at least 3 of 5. – Mark Mayer
