Mets -200 vs Braves (7)
It’s never appealing to bet any team in baseball at -200 and spotting -1½ runs for the cheaper price is an option we also like to avoid. Seeing the low 7 projected run total means Johan Santana must be pitching for the Mets. And, he is. The ace lefty is delivering on his big contract, compiling a 4-1 record with a microscopic 0.91 ERA. But the Braves combo of Chipper Jones, Matt Diaz and Kelly Johnson are hitting over .475 in 40 at-bats as a group against Johan.
Veteran righthander Derek Lowe is also 4-1 for Atlanta since coming over from the Dodgers in offseason free agency. Lowe, however, has an 8.78 ERA in eight career appearances against the Mets. With New York riding a 7-game win streak, there is the potential for scoring. A 4-3 result gets at least a push. That’s worth a bet. OVER 7.
