McCAIN WANTS MOHEGAN SUN PROBE

Jun 14, 2001 8:27 PM

Sen. John McCain wants a congressional investigation into huge profits investors have pocketed at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.

Federal law ostensibly limits the money non-Indians can make on Indian gaming projects. McCain wants the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, of which he is a member, to look into whether the law was violated.

The profits taken by the investors, organized as Trading Cove Associates and including international gaming developer Sol Kerzner, are estimated at $1 billion.

A spokesman for Kerzner and the Mohegan Tribe declined comment.
