MAD FOR PLAID: 25K maiden was exiting our HTW list and would have won on any other day, but ran into a comebacker that closed like a rocket ship. Plaid finished second, but eight lengths better than the rest. Next time.
SOFT SHOE SHUFFLE: Just loved this British invader as she ran right behind the stakes winning Midshipmen. She was getting Lasix and was almost 8-1. Ran her guts out, but could not catch the speedy Tuscan Evening who was all alone on the front end. If this girl can find some pace to chase, look out. $$$$$
EGYPT: Had some trouble breaking his maiden, but this guy has some talent. Once they figure things you can expect them to have another big race.
D C TAPIT: Was last seen running against future stakes horses last year at Monmouth and makes his way West. Broke last and had a very tough trip, but did pick up the show. This guy can run and will be very tough to beat next time out. $$$$$
CARONA TIME: Turned his head at the start and was off slow. Got going late to finish fourth, losing the whole ball of wax by less than a length.
BIG WAVE RIDER: Got a horrible trip as he was pulling Rafael Bejarano out of the saddle as he wanted to be let loose. He stalked outside and was wide leaving the backstretch. Continued wide into the stretch and battled to a third place finish, just a half length out of the win.
SHARK CITY: Was last seen at Del Mar in August. Took some money in this race, but was eliminated early when getting between horses and Alan Garcia steadied him hard. Look for a better effort next time out maybe with a jockey change.
MY FRIEND LUIS: Received a real tentative ride by jockey Alexis Rios, but still made a nice four wide late run. This guy always gives his best and is a must use in the exotics. Bet him if you see a jockey switch.
DARK AND DEEP: Was last seen running against the likes of Kelly Leak last year at Hollywood. He showed up here in this 80K maiden claimer and just crushed these. Look for the move up and another scored.
GOLDEN GATE FIELDS
LOW GEAR POWER: Was boxed in on the second turn when it looked like he was going to make a big move in the turf route. Once clear he made a nice run, but could not catch the lone speed. $$$
GLORIA JEANNE: Won big time despite much trouble. Look for this girl to move up and repeat. $$$
RINCEWIND: Got beat by HTW Reuccio, but was 10 lengths clear of the third place horse. No mistakes for this guy next time out as you can single.
SAND HARBOUR: Ran a huge race despite being very wide the entire trip. He somehow rallied and won going away in an amazing effort.
CRILLY NOW: Looked good in this spot, but broke last in this 11 horse field. She pushed up for the lead, but suddenly dropped back. Finished last and returned bleeding form the nose. If this girl returns soon just toss this race.
