Former Las Vegas golf pro J.L. Lewis was in a three-way tie as play began for the third round of the U.S. Open.
Lewis, who now lives in Texas, was the former club pro at the Las Vegas Country Club. The 40-year-old journeyman has one tour victory, the 1999 John Deere Classic, and only three top 25 finishes in 15 events this year.
He missed the cut in last year’s Open, and finished 40th in his only other appearance in 1996.
