NBA basketball:

Denver hopes to even its series with the Lakers

Denver Nuggets at L.A. Lakers -5½: The Lakers stole game one after Denver controlled the first 46 minutes of the game. But to their credit, the Lakers focused in the last two minutes and, with Kobe Bryant’s stellar play, pulled the game out, leaving the Nuggets looking stunned and perplexed as to how they lost a game the virtually had put away. It’s not likely that Denver can play as well as they did Tuesday night; nor is it likely the Lakers will play as softly as they did Tuesday night, allowing Denver to consistently drive the lane and make uncontested lay-ups. The Lakers will have a stronger inside game tonight and they’ll make it harder on Denver. Give the nod to L.A. to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Lakers -5 ½.
