NBA: West final (Game 3)

5:30 p.m. PT at Denver

Lakers +3½ at Nuggets (211½)

Credit linesmaker respect for Denver being a 3½-point chalk coming off two great games in Los Angeles to gain a split. Carmelo Anthony has been able to match Kobe Bryant point for point and the more physical Nuggets have gotten more out of their bench. The series now moves to Denver where the Nuggets have been flawless.

Denver has won 16 in a row at home and is 11-0-1 against the spread in the playoffs. With the city of Denver so pumped up that the WWE wrestling card was moved to the Staples Center for Monday’s Game 4, we’re not going against the hot team. DENVER.

D’backs -140 at Athletics (8)

The return of Dan Haren to Oakland is enough by itself to side with Arizona. After a rough patch, the Diamondbacks have won three in a row and 5 of 6. The A’s have dropped 6 of 8. Haren has had a quality in all eight outings this year, going at least 6 innings and allowing 3 runs or less.

Oakland starter Edgar Gonzalez was just brought up from the minors, but in 80 previous major league games is just 14-21 with a 5.97 ERA. Haren’s only appearance against Oakland was a win and he will be pitching with emotion, having been dealt from the A’s a few years back. ARIZONA.
