NBA baseball (Game 6)
5:35 p.m. PT at Orlando
Cavaliers +2 at Magic (193½)
It’s do or die for Cleveland and who would have thought that at the start of the series? Certainly not the Vegas books, which in some venues had the Cavaliers 8-1 favorites to beat Orlando and reach the NBA Finals. Now the Cavs are in dire straits, trying to become only the ninth team out of 190 in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the playoffs.
You can expect another 40-plus game out of LeBron James, who has Nike and NBA commissioner David Stern pulling for the Cavs to force a Game 7. So it wouldn’t surprise us to see quite a few calls go LeBron’s way down the stretch. We will probably see a repeat of Game 5 in the final quarter when the entire Cleveland offense ran through LeBron at the top of the circle.
Three of the five games in the series have exceeded 193½, including the last two. We again see both teams over 100 and fouls deciding the outcome. Key stat: Orlando has won the second half in 4 of the 5 games and taken the third quarter in all 5. The conspiracy theory works for us so we’re expecting to see a Game 7. CAVS / OVER.
Bonus selection (baseball): Chicago White Sox -110.
