Convention attendance shot up 46 percent in Laughlin in April, offsetting a slight decline in visitor volume for the month, according to figures released by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority.
Air traffic almost doubled to 19,432, compared with the same month last year.
Overall, the market remained fairly flat, with total hotel occupancy down 1.4 percent and gross gaming revenue down 0.9 percent.
Year to date, visitor volume is down 1.4 percent to 1.57 million, occupancy is down 0.4 percent and gaming revenues are down 1.1 percent to $203.9 million.
It's been a good year for conventions so far, with attendance up 24.6 percent, compared with the same period in 2000.
