May was a strong month for Connecticut’s Indian casinos.
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun reported more than $116 million in slot revenues on handle of more than $1.4 billion.
For the 12-month period, the state’s slot market grew 5.8 percent.
Mohegan Sun’s new 637-machine smoke-free casino helped boost slot win there to $49.5 million, up 9.3 percent over the same month last year.
Foxwoods, which added 192 machines to its smoke-free slot venue, won $66.5 million.
The additional slots diluted win per machine at Mohegan Sun. Average daily win fell 9.5 percent, compared with May 2000. Foxwoods bested its May 2000 average daily win by $1 to $356.
Total wagering at Foxwoods increased 1.6 percent over May 2000 to $804 million. Mohegan Sun’s handle was up 9 percent to $610 million.
