by David Stratton | As casino marketers search for campaigns that will help them get through the recession, a new study of casino players’ habits and motivation will be released at the sixth annual Casino Marketing Conference, July 21-22, in Las Vegas.

In a special session entitled, "What Your Best Players Are Saying (and Doing) During This Recession," three of the top casino market researchers in the business will share their surprising data and analysis from research gathered from thousands of casino customers in casino markets across North America.

Presenters will include Glenn Goulet, a principal with Gaming Strategies + Insights, Michael Meczka, a principal with MM/R/C, and John Thomas, executive director of Clear Seas Research.

"We are continuing our proud tradition of offering attendees something they won’t get anywhere else," said Dennis Conrad, president and chief strategist of Raving Consulting Company, co-producer of Casino Marketing with BNP Media. "This research will hopefully shed some light on how consumers are behaving in this economy and what casino marketers can learn from that."

One survey result indicates that there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to player satisfaction at major Las Vegas casino resorts, and that means there is opportunity out there to capture additional market share.

And while many would like to blame the recession for sagging business, it may be that some casinos have lost sight of what the player wants and needs, again opening up opportunities for others to capture market share.

All of this and more will be explored in this one-of-a-kind session.

Of course, there is much more to be learned at Casino Marketing this year. The exceptional speaker lineup is led by keynote presenters Rossi Ralenkotter, president and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and noted humorist Tim Gard.

There are also two annual awards ceremonies. On July 22, the Romero Awards: Recognizing Excellence in Casino Marketing, will be announced in a ceremony hosted by boxing analyst and celebrity Al Bernstein.

The previous day, the Casino Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Lyle Berman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Lakes Entertainment, Inc.

The day before Casino Marketing Conference officially begins, the unique Player Development Summit on July 20 features a full day of in-depth conference sessions on this important topic. Keynote speaker Troy Simpson, Senior Vice President of Innovation for Barona Resort and Casino, will discuss the future of player development.

The marketing conference will be held at Paris Las Vegas hotel & casino. Complete conference details and registration information are available at www.casinomarketing2009.com.
