Gaming regulators in Nevada and Mississippi have approved the acquisition of Casino Data Systems by Aristocrat Leisure.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission gave formal approval to the deal on Friday, making Nevada-based Aristocrat Leisure, a subsidiary of the Australian slot machine giant, an instant player in a lucrative market where CDS operates patented games and slot tracking and accounting systems.

The approval by the Nevada Gaming Commission places Aristocrat firmly in the largest casino market in the world, Las Vegas, where the company had sought a gaming license for years.

The commission's OK came as a result of an earlier recommendation from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the state's gaming investigative arm.
