Tony Alamo, senior vice president of Mandalay Resort Group in Las Vegas, and Adele Abowd, owner of Adele’s restaurant in Carson City and Reno, were named the Nevada Hotelier and Nevada Restaurateur of the Year, respectively, last week at the 22nd annual Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show (LVIHRS) held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“Tony and Adele were chosen for their many contributions and accomplishments they have made to the hospitality and restaurant industry,” said Van Heffner, president and CEO of the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association. “They are both excellent representatives of the type of leadership that makes Las Vegas and their respective industries successful.”
Currently, Alamo oversees the operations of Mandalay Resort Group’s newest venture - the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. He is also responsible for the operation of the Luxor Hotel & Casino and the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. During his 38-year career in the gaming industry, Alamo has been involved with the expansion of the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino, the Desert Inn, and the construction and opening of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. He has also served as a commissioner with the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT).
