Jay Black & the Americans take the stage at the Dallas Events Center inside Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel at 7 p.m., on Saturday. Tickets are $19.95, $25, $30, $37.50 and can be purchased through tickets.com or any Station Casinos Boarding Pass Rewards Center.

Brooklynite Black and company churned out 22 hits during the British Invasion of the 1960s including Come A Little Bit Closer, This Magic Moment, Cara Mia, and Why Can’t Your Bring Me Home. Black’s voice has been called one of the most unique in show business. “I’m often asked how I developed my voice,” he says. “I didn’t, I just looked up and there it was.” At 62 he can still hit the high notes.

The band’s first hit records, Only In America and Come Dance With Me hit the airwaves in 1963. In 1964 he opened for The Beatles during the band’s first American tour and by 1970, Jay Black & The Americans’ recording career had ended. According to Black, that’s when he had to learn to be an entertainer. “I always had a voice, but then I learned how to keep an audience entertained.”
