Race 1 -- #5 Moon de French - When I first started betting the ponies the rule of thumb was never bet a horse that had not run within 30 days. You can just toss that one out the window and switch it to only bet horses that have been off at least six months. Moon de French was last seen winning at Saratoga in September 2007. She came back recently and just blitzed her rivals by five lengths. She could be a force in the near future for trainer Bob Baffert and Zayat Stables. $$$$$
Race 4 -- #6 Cinnamon Dove - Trainer Julio Canani may have gotten away with one here as this filly was shipping in from Gulfstream Park where she was facing much better than these. She won this race in a romp, and it was surprising there were no claims as Julio was laughing all the way to the cashier’s window. Look for the move up in class, possibly a starter allowance race on the grass and another score. If you are at Del Mar and see this one entered, just follow Julio to the widow and bet. $$$$$
Race 5 -- #3 Sammy's A Runnin - First time starter came out running, was four wide in the early going and wide on the turn. He continued on the outside down the lane. Although he could not run down the 3/2 winner, he was almost three lengths clear of the third place finisher. This guy won’t be a maiden for long.
Race 9 -- #8 Fight On - A recent claim by trainer Doug O’Neill and looks to be an excellent claim as O’Neill is likely gearing up for Del Mar.
Race 10 -- #5 Objectified - Was last seen running at Del Mar Aug. 30 of last year and could return on or near that date again. He ran ok in this $25k maiden claimer despite being bumped hard at the start and a wide trip. This was a great prep and he should break his maiden next time out for trainer Ted West at what will be a nice price.
