Cost management helped Scientific Games Corp. (SGMS) beat analysts’ expectations for the quarter. Earnings for the period rose to $0.20 per share compared to the estimates of $0.17 per share.

The company also was pleased to announce it had been chosen by the state of Delaware to provide the software and hardware for the upcoming football season when the state will begin sports betting.

Scientific Games, formerly Autotote, has been providing the equipment to racetracks for horse betting for years, and at one time provided the equipment for sports betting in Nevada.
