I hope everyone is ready for some more MMA action. Next Saturday, Sept. 16, 2009, UFC Fight Night will host two great matchups.
First we will see the 155 lb. class with Gray "The Bully" Maynard (pictured) versus Roger "El Matador" Huerta. Maynard is the favorite at -250. Huerta is the underdog at +210.
Maynard has a strong wrestling background, good striking ability and a gas tank that just won't quit. This guy stays extremely fit and usually takes the advantage if the fight goes the distance. Huerta is a well rounded fighter who tends to go for the big punches. He is definitely an entertaining fighter. For this one I will stick with the favorite in Gray Maynard to get the easy victory.
The main event of the night is also in the 155 lb. class and will pit the impressive Nate Diaz (pictured) against Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard. Diaz comes in as the favorite at -230 and for good reason. He is excellent at submissions and is a very patient fighter that can take some abuse until he finds his opening.
Guillard, a +200, is a powerful striker with a lot of grit, but I don't think he has what it takes to get by Diaz.
Next week we will break down the fights at the upcoming UFC 103.
