College football:

Fresno State -11 over Hawaii: Ordinarily, you don’t like to bet against the Rainbow Warriors at home. But this isn’t your typical Hawaiian team. Their top two quarterbacks are injured and won’t play, and their defense simply can’t stop the run. Unfortunately for Hawaii, that’s one of Fresno’s strong points, the ability to run the football. Moreover, Fresno is battle-tested, having played much better teams such as Wisconsin, Boise and Cincinnati, holding their own in each game, even though they resulted in losses. But the WAC season begins today for coach Pat Hill and he will have the Bulldogs primed for a big effort in the conference opener. Fresno State -11.
