Tower Of Power returns to The Orleans, bringing their timeless sounds of soul with them.

The group began in the San Francisco Bay area and was originally know as the Motowns. The group soon caught the eye of rock producer Bill Graham, who was impressed with what he saw and gave them a spot on the Fillmore Auditorium roster.

Tower Of Power quickly climbed their way up. They shared the stage with such acts as Creedance Clearwater Revival, Sly and the Family Stone and Santana.

In the 90’s, the group became popular with R&B lovers in Europe and Japan. The horn section could be seen on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Rhino Records has released “What Is Hip?” an introspective of the band.

They’ll be performing Friday and Sunday at 8 p.m.
