State and local officials joined the leadership of Ameristar Casinos Inc. (ASCA) in celebrating the opening last week of a new 33-story 536-room hotel and spa in Black Hawk, Colorado.
Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter heralded the opening as a means of stimulating the economy, providing more jobs and funding community colleges. The new hotel will make Ameristar Casinos one of the county’s largest employers.
"Our $235 million investment in this expansion will generate more local economic development by attracting guests who would be spending their leisure dollars elsewhere," said Gordon Kanofsky, Ameristar’s CEO.
Black Hawk Ameristar has a 55,000 square-foot casino with 1,600 slot machines and 14 table games.
The new hotel is the largest structure between Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah.
