NFL football:

Detroit at Green Bay -13 ½ : Green Bay has a big home field advantage and the Lions, after getting the losing streak elephant off its back, has returned to reality the last couple of weeks. Moreover, the Packers are coming off a bye week, which followed their loss to the Vikings. Every time a team this season has lost before a bye week, they’ve returned to play hard and win. Green Bay will win and should post enough points to cover the two touchdowns. Green Bay.

St. Louis at Jacksonville -9½ :Don’t make too much of the Jaguars blow-out loss to Seattle last week. It was just a bad match-up, coupled with their longest road trip ever. Having to play St. Louis is a quick panacea for them, and they should score at least 35 against the hapless Rams. Jacksonville -9 ½

Other top NFL selections:

Redskins -6 over Chiefs

Panthers -3 ½ over Tampa Bay

New York Jets -9 ½ over Buffalo

New England -9 ½ over Tennessee
