College football:

Central Michigan -16 at Ball State: The Chippewas are 6-0 in MAC conference play and are on a collision course with Temple for the league title. Ball State has been a train wreck this season (1-9, 1-5 in MAC play), with their sole win coming against lowly Eastern Michigan. However, the Cardinals have been competitive in a couple of conference tilts, losing to Temple by only five on the road, and by a field goal to Ohio at home. They beat Central Michigan last year, 31-24, on the road, although they lost the previous four meetings. The Chippewas have demolished league foes at home, scoring an average of 53 points, though their offensive output has dropped off on the road, where they’re averaging 26 points. Ball State will play hard tonight and, though Central Michigan probably gets the win, the Cardinals should stay within the number. Ball State +16.

Buffalo -2 ½ at Miami-Ohio: Even though Buffalo has just one win in MAC play, they’ve been competitive, losing their last three games by a total of seven points. Miami-Ohio began the season with eight straight losses before breaking through against Toledo, 31-24. They followed up that win with a big effort at Temple, where they lost 34-32. This is the Red Hawks final game of the season, so expect another big effort in front of the home crowd. Miami-Ohio +2 ½
