College football:

Notre Dame at Stanford -10: The dichotomy with Notre Dame is this – they never seem as good as expected, or as bad. Thus, when they’re favored in a game, the seldom live up to the support and, conversely, when they’re an underdog, they surprise people and play well. That could happen here today. This is Charlie Weis’s swan song, his last game as head coach, and we’ve seen that he has the support of his team and they should play hard for him. They will score on Stanford’s suspect secondary, with Jimmy Clausen putting up some big numbers (he plans to go to the NFL after this season and may be the first QB chosen in the draft). Stanford might be deflated after their crushing loss last week to California. This one looks like it belongs to the Irish. Notre Dame +10.
