MGM Mirage's planned Atlantic City casino will probably open in 2004 or 2005, according to the corporation's president and chief financial officer Jim Murren.

Company executives said the project would take from 18 to 24 months to design. The casino would be located next to the Borgata, a $1 billion joint venture of MGM Mirage and Boyd Gaming Corp. that is expected to open in the summer of 2003.

Atlantic City, despite having just 12,000 hotel rooms, generates 90 percent of its revenues through casino gambling.
