CASINO PLAN WON'T HURT MISSISSIPPI COAST

Jul 15, 2001 8:18 PM

A Louisiana Indian tribe's long shot casino and resort proposal in tiny Greene County would have little or no impact on the Mississippi Coast's gambling market.

Jay Osman, president of Biloxi-based Osman Holding Co., said the proposed casino would have no major effect due to its scope and proximity.

The 230-member Jena Band of Choctaws is proposing a 75,000 to 100,000 square foot casino, a 500-room hotel with conference center, a championship golf course and a theme park.

Greene County is located about 100 miles northeast of Biloxi.
