Nearly every major player in the gaming industry has agreed to participate in the first Global Gaming Expo (G2E) that will be held Oct. 1-3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Expo.

“One of the unique features of G2E,” explained Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr., president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, “is the widespread participation of industry leaders representing the world’s leading casino operators and equipment manufacturers.”

Among the speakers who will deliver keynote addresses or who will head panel discussion groups are: Bill Boyd, chairman of Boyd Gaming Corporation (BYD); Donald Carano, CEO of Eldorado Hotel & Casinos; Tom Gallagher, president and CEO of Park Place Entertainment Corporation (PPE); Terry Lanni, chairman and CEO of MGM Mirage (MGG); Charles Mathewson, chairman of International Game Technology (IGT); William Newby, managing director of Bank of America (BAC), Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada; Phil Satre, chairman and CEO of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. (HET); Glenn Shaeffer, president and CFO of Mandalay Resort Group (MBG), and David Thompson, chairman and CEO of Mikohn Gaming Corporation (MIKN).

“We are excited about participating in G2E and especially pleased that manufacturers will now have an important role in the conference portion of the program in addition to our presence on the exhibitor floor,” Thompson remarked.

This will be the first industry trade show and conference sponsored by the industry itself, through its organization the AGA.

Before putting the program together, Fahrenkopf said, the organization listened to industry leaders, as well as the rank and file, who had been critical of conference planning for past trade shows.

“Their work has helped create a program of 99 seminars addressing such topics as NYSE and NASDAQ: How Wall Street Views the Industry; Do They Go Too Far or Not Far Enough; Tribal Gaming Management: Contract or Consultants; The Next Generation: The Latest Trend in Slots: Show Me the Money: Effective Financial Operations, and the State of the Industry Review,” Fahrenkopf said.

Expressing his approval, Gallagher said, “G2E has pulled together outstanding advisory committees comprised of leaders in the gaming-entertainment industry who have put together a conference agenda that is geared to our needs. I am proud to participate in G2E and help support the show that will benefit the industry directly.”

Adding an international flavor to the G2E will be its international sponsorship. A recent addition to the group was the Asociacion Latinoamericana de Juegos de Azar (ALAJA), representing Latin American operators and suppliers. They joined the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) which represents leading gaming device and equipment makers, and the European Gaming Organization (EGO), Europe’s only official gaming association.
