Visitor volume to Las Vegas reached 3.068 million in May, a 0.7% increase over the volume in May 2000. For the year to date, Las Vegas has attracted 15.02 million visitors, a 0.8% increase over the same period last year.

Convention attendance took a downturn for the first time this year as 288,000 conventioneers traveled to the city, down 13% from the 332,000 who flocked here last May. Still, convention attendance is up 13.8% to 2.056 million for the year.

While visitor volume remained about equal to last year’s figures, airline passengers increased 3.7% in May to 3.206 million, and drive-in traffic from California increased by 10.9% to 546,000 vehicles.
