2 FOR TUESDAY Mark Mayer...last wk: 1-1. ’08 record: 7-7
NUGGETS at HEAT (NBA):
Denver comes off possibly its best effort of the season in a 30-point destruction of the Cavaliers. No doubt the Nuggets think they can strut to South Beach and win by margin, and rightly so. But this is the NBA. D-Wade lights up flat Nuggets. HEAT.
T’WOLVES AT NETS (NBA):
Minnesota’s good games, few as they are, usually come at home. The Nets are no great shakes at the Meadowlands, but Vince Carter is off a 29-point effort in a blowout win over Dallas. The trade rumors have Jason Kidd in a triple-double mood and perhaps Jersey has decided to make a run at the playoffs. NETS.
2 FOR TUESDAY Richard Saber... last wk: 1-1. ’08 record: 6-8
RED WINGS at PREDS (NHL-TUE):
After winning eight straight games, the Wings have dropped three in a row. Detroit now heads to Nashville to face the young Preds, who are looking to solidify their hold on second place behind the Wings. Nashville is off a 6-3 win over Phoenix. PREDS.
BRUINS at PENS (NHL-WED):
So I’m a day off. Big deal. The schedule favors the Pens as Boston played on Tuesday, while Pittsburgh was idle. Pittsburgh is perched in first place in the Atlantic Division. Since Crosby’s injury Evgeni Malkin has been on fire, now with 31 goals. Boston is languishing in third in the Northeast. PENGUINS.
