Terry Lanni, chairman and CEO of MGM MIRAGE Inc. (MGG) and one of the nation’s most quoted gaming executives, has accepted the invitation to join the board of directors of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
Lanni, 58, is a prominent horse owner who, with partners, won the Breeders’ Cup Mile in 1999 with the grass champion, Silic, and raced the stakes winner, Ladies Din, named Del Mar’s grass champion last year.
This will be the third track directorship for Lanni. He also serves on the board of Magna Entertainment Corp. (MIEC) and the Santa Anita Turf Club.
He is a native of Southern California and received both his undergraduate degree and his MBA in finance from the University of Southern California. He spent a number of years with Caesars World before being lured to MGM Grand Inc. by founder and majority shareholder Kirk Kerkorian.
Lanni has been on the board of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation’s board of trustees, the Board of Overseers for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, and the Marshall School of Business Board of Visitors at USC. Three years ago, he was named a member of the National Gambling Impact Study Committee.
He and his wife, Debbie, have two sons.
