Despite some negative figures, Nevada casinos won a record $9.67 billion in fiscal 200-2001.
The Nevada clubs totaled $9.67 billion in winnings from gamblers, according to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
The profits occurred in spite of an economic slowdown, fewer megaresort openings and more competition from Indian casinos.
There was also a 2.2 percent drop in the win at Nevada's legal sports books that was blamed on Internet gambling. Resorts on the Las Vegas Strip won half the statewide total ($4.88 billion), a 2.8 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.
