David Toms, opening as a 60-1 shot by Las Vegas Sports Consultants, captured the PGA Championship by one stroke over Phil Mickelson.

Mickelson, the third-rated pick at 10-1, shot a final round 68 in again being denied his first "major" title.

Tournament favorite Tiger Woods (2-1) and British Open champ David Duval (6-1) were non-factors in the final round. Steve Lowery, part of the 9-2 "field" of golfers, was four strokes back in third.
