Jaguars 20, Chiefs 9: The
Jacksonville offense has consisted of field goals and a safety thus far in the
exhibition season. The Jaguars will do better in this game. Kansas City is no
ball of fire on offense and will continue to play poorly. Pick: Jaguars minus
the points.
Ravens 20, Panthers 6: The
Ravens, lacking playing time against opponents, looked sloppy in New York
against the Jets. The second game of preseason brings out the Ravens offense. Pick:
Ravens minus the points.
Titans 17, Eagles 9:
The Titans flexed their muscles versus St. Louis on the road. This week the home
folks in Nashville get a treat. The Eagles, in need of work, are preparing more
for their Aug. 30 home game with the Jets. Pick: Titans.
Friday, Aug. 24:
Vikings 27, Colts 20:
A great matchup if this was a regular season game. This could be a bummer, but
we doubt it. Figures to be a wide open contest. Pick: Vikings minus the
points.
Browns 17, Redskins 13:
This game could also be a bummer, and probably will. The Redskins are
hurting at QB and will go with Tony Banks, who will not be prepared. Cleveland
shows some defense and puts enough points on the board. Pick: Browns to win
the money and game.
Steelers 23, Lions 13:
The Pittsburgh defense smother stodgy Lions defense. Detroit may come alive in
the preseason finale at home versus Tennessee. Pick: Steelers minus the
points.
Bengals 20, Lions 13:
The Bills have big problems at QB with Rob Johnson’s many injuries. Alex Van
Pelt will handle most of the snaps along with Pete Gonzalez. Pick: Bengals in
a dead even game.
Bucs 24, Patriots 10:
Tampa Bay came up short versus Miami on a last minute “Hail Mary” pass. No
such happenings in this affair. The Bucs defense stops Pats cold. Pick: Bucs
minus points in big way.
Bears 18, Cards 13:
The game could be a sleeper, where Chicago sleep walks through
Arizona. Pick: Bears.
Saturday, Aug. 25:
Jets 20, Giants 17: Bragging rights in the “Battle of New York” (being played
in New Jersey) goes to the Jets. Both teams could be carried away in this one.
Better than average preseason game. Pick: Jets in a dead even game.
Dolphins 24, Packers 20:
Better than your average preseason affair. Miami looking to open its offense.
That’s the only way Green Bay knows how to play. Pick: Dolphins plus the
points.
Broncos 24, Saints 16:
New Orleans makes a rare visit to the rarified air of Mile High Stadium. While
the Saints take in the sights, Denver takes the game. Pick: Broncos minus the
points.
Chargers
20, Rams 17: San Diego’s newfound offense comes to the front here. The
Rams new look defense gets tested. Pick: Take the Chargers.
