Jerry Smith has been promoted to general counsel at
Shuffle Master Inc. He succeeds Thomas Barry who will continue to serve the
company as special counsel.
Smith, who graduated magna cum laude from Duke University
and earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law, was previously
affiliated with the law firm of Hale Lane Peek Dennison Howard and Anderson. He
joined Shuffle Master in March of
this year.
Rhett Long, president of Reno Hilton, and Michael
Caryl, senior vice president of Caesars Tahoe, are no longer employed by Park
Place Entertainment Corp. (PPE). No reasons were given for their departures.
Bernard “Bud” Jones, founder and operator of the
Bud Jones Co., manufacturer and distributor of casinos supplies for nearly four
decades, died last week at the age of 86.
Michael Saunders and Dr. Rolf Carlson have been elected to the board of directors of Coinless Systems Inc. (CLSY).
