Over the last three weeks, home teams have defended their turf at nearly a 70 percent rate of return against the point spread. Favorites have won 60 percent of all games.

Bills +8½ over JAGS: The Jags broke from the gate fast but faded with losses to Browns and Seattle. Offensive line has been hobbled. Rob Johnson would like nothing better than to quiet his critics on national TV.

Pats +6 over COLTS: The Colts have shown weakness at times against the run. Antowain Smith should be able to find some holes to sneak through now that QB Tom Brady has a couple of games under his belt.

Rams +1 over JETS: Rams have lost Faulk for several weeks with a strained right knee. Rams defense will turn it up a notch. Offensive line will rally around Trung Canidate.

SAINTS —8 over Falcons: Chris Chandler rebounded well from the concussion against Bears. How did Falcons let that one slip away? Must be poor coaching. Really like the coaching with New Orleans.

Browns +8 over RAVENS: The Ravens aren’t scoring a ton of points. Granted, they faced a tough Packers D. But the fans are not exactly all shook up about the points Elvis is throwing up on the scoreboard.

Panthers —3 over SKINS: Carolina was supposed to be all banged up and they gave Saints quite a scare. Weinke looks very sharp. If he could receive just the slightest support from the rushing attack this one could be easy.

BENGALS PK over Bears: The Bears have won three straight with great D and mediocre QB. But, Bengals playing inspired at home. Corey Dillon ran like a man possessed against Cleveland.

BUCS —4½ over Steelers: Can anyone stop the Bus? Warren Sapp and his posse might have a chance. Once Bucs stop Bettis, Kordell Stewart will struggle.

LIONS +6½ over Titans: A dinged up Eddie George sucked it up against the Bucs. The Lions are a different team with Charlie Batch at QB. Should be a tough home dog.

Packers — 3½
CHARGERS + 3
Bengals PK

CHARGERS +3½ over Broncos: Pats were first team to slow LaDainian Tomlinson. Flutie frustrated after two straight road losses. Bolts will be charged up for big showdown.

Chiefs —2½ over CARDS: The Cards are struggling with no trump card in the running game. Chiefs not much better but Priest Holmes is beginning to show signs of emerging.

Pack —3½ over VIKES: The Vikes haven’t been able to run the ball against anyone, not even the Lions. Packers should beat them up, take their lunch money and win.

Eagles +4 over GIANTS: Philly is still trying to chill out after embarrassing loss to Cards at home. I believe they will take out their frustration with a stellar effort in N.Y.
