A 28 percent drop in airline travel in September helped send Las Vegas visitor volume into a tailspin.

For the month, the number of visitors to Las Vegas was 2.531 million, a 14% drop from last September's volume.

Hotel occupancy in Las Vegas also suffered, dropping 14% to an average of 73.7%.

Surprisingly, auto traffic from California increased about 5% in September to 493,249 vehicles.
