New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani charged the city's state Assembly representative, Sheldon Silver, with failing to include the city in the state's gambling package.

"You're going to drain money out of the New York City economy," Giuliani said. "And not only that, you're going to move tourism away from New York at a time in which New York City and New York state are spending money to try to bring people to New York to rebuild tourism."

Silver defended his representation of New York City in Albany (the state capitol), and charged Giuliani of "playing politics."
