Raiders legit 5-1, not Bears

Oct 30, 2001 6:24 AM

The Oakland Raiders moved to 5-1 and look more and more like Super Bowl material. The Chicago Bears are 5-1 and will be fortunate to make the playoffs.

Give the Bears credit for fighting back from a deficit all afternoon to hand San Francisco its second defeat in a thrilling overtime contest.

Sunday, Nov. 9
Ravens 16, Steelers 13: Baltimore is not the defensive force from last year and the offense did not improve. Must be using mirrors. Ravens had trouble beating injury riddled Jacksonville. Will have better luck with Pittsburgh. Take Ravens —2½.

Dolphins 27, Panthers 9: Carolina has no offense and the defense is getting leg weary. Miami’s running game will come to the front and bury Carolina. Take Dolphins —8½.

Browns 23, Bears 17: Like I said, the Bears record looks like a mirage. It will soon pass. The Browns are coming off a bye week. Take Browns +5.

Giants 24, Cowboys 6: The Giants are playing poorly, however, not as poorly as the Arizona Cardinals. New York makes a comeback here. Take Giants —10½

Titans 20, Jaguars 13: The Jaguars are shorthanded, but not short of heart. The loss at Baltimore was a heartbreaker. Titans coming off Monday night contest will need their best effort to win here. Take Tennessee —5.

Falcons 31, Pats 26: The Patriots found an offense, now their defense has to step up. Feeling is the D takes the day off. Take Falcons minus 3 and ”˜over’ in a parlay.

Bucs 24, Packers 20: The Bucs found an offense, which is good because the defense went to Aruba. Packers had a bye week and needed it with all the injuries, expecially to Brett Favre. Bucs will need a big offensive effort. Take Tampa Bay +4.

Eagles 27, Cards 10: The Cardinals making a pitch for the worst team in the NFL. Losing to the Cowboys can happen to any team, but scoring three points is lack of effort. Take Eagles —7.

Niners 31, Lions 27: The Lions have a problem winning their first game, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen here. However we do like the points. Take Lions +8.

Colts 27, Bills 17: The Bills are having problems winning, however their offense has picked up. Colts turned things around versus KC last outing. Looking to continue the turnaround. Weather may be a factor, but Colts should overcome. Take Indy —4.

Chiefs 27, Chargers 26: The Chargers have eyes on a playoff spot, but better beware of the Chiefs. KC can be dangerous. Chargers pulled one out against Buffalo. The Bills are not as dangerous on offense as KC, yet they scored 24 on San Diego. Take the Chiefs +6½.

Skins 24, Seahawks 17: Redskins are on a two-game winning streak and looking to extend to three. Washington had no trouble putting points on the board. Against, Seattle it will be easier. Take Skins +3.

Jets 24, Saints 20: The Saints pulled the upset of St. Louis to dash the Rams’ hopes of an unbeaten season. New Orleans was down 18, but came storming back to win. The Jets will have to be more offensive versus New Orleans. Take the Jets +6.

Broncos 24, Raiders 23: The feeling here is Oakland is the future AFC representative in the Super Bowl. On this day, the Broncos rule the roost. Take Denver +4½.
