WEB-BASED GAMBLING BILL TOUGHENED

Nov 2, 2001 11:14 PM

The federal government may have the tool to put all forms of Internet gambling out of business.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said the practical effect of his bill would be to wipe out all forms of Internet gambling, legal or illegal.

The Virginia congressman, according to a report in the Las Vegas Review Journal, said that Nevada and Indian tribes could operate Web sites, but could not take wagers from beyond the borders of the state where they are located.
