The results were still not great, but Atlantic City casinos recovered somewhat last month from the tragic events of Sept. 11.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that the local casino industry bounced back to near-normal levels in October, posting a 1.7 percent decline in gross gaming.
"I thought the numbers were very positive," CIBC World Markets analyst Jacques Cornet said. "It's good to see the year-over-year trend is moving in the right direction."
The dozen Atlantic City casinos won $339.3 million from gamblers, $5.8 million less than October 2000.
