Connecticut municipal leaders traveling to Washington, D.C. are being told by the state's congressional delegation that gambling is here to stay.

The Hartford Courant reported that the state's two Democratic senators Christopher Dodd and Joseph Lieberman said there is no chance lawmakers will revisit the 1983 special act that granted the Mashantucket Pequots federal recognition that paved away to the opening of Foxwoods.

"The state of Connecticut only has itself to blame," said Rep. Christopher Shays. "We are going to become one of the gambling meccas of the world."
